The 1st Annual Audubon Greenwich Bridal Fête!

It was rainy and cold; typical, unpredictable Connecticut weather, the week before the 1st Annual Audubon Greenwich Bridal Fête. But on Sunday, October 14th, a beautiful sunrise started the day and the temperature warmed. After a year of planning, Gayle Szuchman and Diana Palmentiero, co-founders of Fairfield County Wedding Concierge, knew this was a good sign and it was going to be an amazing day. It was a little over one year since Gayle had posted a picture of the recently renovated Barn on the Audubon Greenwich’s property on her Events by Gayle Instagram. The response was astonishing. She knew that there was something about the Barn that she had to pursue.

A few weeks later, Diana and Gayle were on a conference call with the Center’s Director to discuss the best way to spread the word about the Barn’s recent renovation, which now made it a unique venue that could be used for weddings and other special events. All agreed that a bridal show would be a fantastic way to showcase the space to engaged couples looking for a special venue. With a capacity of 80 for a sit-down dinner, 130 for a cocktail reception and a kitchen, bar and working fireplace, the space services all of a couple’s wedding needs; bridal showers, bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinners and more.

Fast forward one year to October 14, 2018 and the Bridal Fête was a huge success! Different areas of the Audubon property were utilized for the show; Kiernan Hall in the main Audubon Center, the main lobby and of course, the Barn.

With thirty-three exhibitors throughout the property, attendees had the opportunity to meet many unique, quality bridal vendors for their wedding. Many of these exhibitors signed up to be an integral part of the show, including A Little Something White Bridal Couture and Bella Bridesmaids of Westport. These two shops provided beautiful wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses for attendees to view on models as they circulated throughout Kiernan Hall and the Barn. All of the staff from A Little Something White and Bella Bridesmaids in Westport were a dream to work with too. Fairfield County Wedding Concierge was also fortunate to have Candi Sterling of Candi Marie Beauty, work tirelessly starting in the early morning, to make sure that the models were runway ready. Flowers & Flowers by Adam provided the models with beautiful bouquets, which enhanced the bridal fashion show.

Shiran Nicholson and his fabulous crew at Nicholson Events, MC’d the bridal fashion show in Kiernan Hall and provided a photobooth for all guests to enjoy.

Michael Ursone of Michael Ursone Films, began filming early in the morning; he captured scenes which included the models preparing for the fashion show and interviews with exhibitors and attendees.

The Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa provided a fabulous Grand Prize for one lucky couple; a weekend getaway package worth almost $1,000! The Knot sponsored the beautiful swag bags and their magazines. All of the exhibitors’ tables were fashioned with quality linens from Please B Seated, as well as a popular wedding chair. Models, attendees and exhibitors were driven in style, between Kiernan Hall and the Barn, in a Mercedes sprinter van supplied by Leros Point to Point. Val’s Putnam Wines and Altaneve Prosecco hosted a wine tasting in the Barn while Susan Kane Catering passed out delicious hors d'oeuvres which included sea scallops, crab cakes and short ribs.

On the grounds of the Audubon, attendees were delighted to find some pleasant surprises:

Lobstercraft Food Truck where they could sample seafood delicacies for their upcoming wedding and also purchase lunch, a VW Picture bus complete with photo booth and fun props and an adorable Prosecco truck for rent by Hudson Trailer Company.

Making a very special appearance at the Bridal Fête was Maggie Lord, founder of Rustic Wedding Chic and author of 6 books on rustic style. Maggie signed her books throughout the day and offered rustic wedding styling types to the attendees.

It was a great team effort and thanks to Ashley, Morgan and Lauren, the day was enjoyable for everyone. Gayle and Diana are looking forward to working on the 2nd Annual Bridal Fête and meeting next year’s engaged couples! The date is being finalized so be sure to check the website for updates:
